Classes/Events

No- history shows it is not necessary! All classes are suited for all levels, beginners and advanced alike.

The room is intentionally heated to warm your muscles, help prevent injuries and allow a deeper workout. Sweating is another benefit, which helps cleanse the body by flushing toxins from the skin. The heat feels good- and is closely managed the studio.

A regular practice will shed inches of fat, develop muscle tone and increase strength. A regular hot yoga practice builds strength, stamina, flexibility, balance and coordination. Hot Yoga will keep your mind focused, relieve stress, purify your blood, improve circulation and restore health and vitality to your body and soul.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yoga means union of body, mind and spirit. It is the perfect lifetime fitness program and totally different from any other kind of exercise.  Hot yoga works by a tourniquet effect: stretching, balancing, and creating pressure all at the same time. The blood supply in arteries and veins is being cut off, creating pressure. When released, a lock gate effect is created, causing blood to rush through the veins and arteries, flushing them out.

What is Hot Yoga?

Why do it?

Why is the room heated?

Do you have a separate class for beginners?

Have no fear!! This is a common misconception that prevents people from coming to yoga class. Yoga is not about how flexible you are, it is about stretching your body and spine. The most important part of yoga is that you try and take your body to your unique physical limits. Like any other form of exercise, you will gradually build the strength and flexibility required to do the poses.

What if I’m not flexible?

Chanting and meditation are not a part of Hot Yoga. The balance between flexibility, strength and concentration required in a hot yoga series can become a meditative experience once the student has developed their practice.

Isn’t yoga chanting and meditation?

Please show up 15-20 minutes ahead of time for your first class, and 5-10 minutes early thereafter. Doors will be locked at the start of class in order  to practice hot yoga without distractions.

We have both a men’s and women’s changing area so please feel free to bring your workout clothes with you. It is also recommended to bring clothes to change into after. Please dress lightly- the room is heated.

For best results, you will not want to eat for the 2 ½ hours leading up to your yoga class; if necessary please eat something light, like fruit. Also be sure to stay hydrated throughout the day, drink plenty of water.

Remember that patience can be challenging. Listen to your body and advance at your own pace.

We look forward to seeing you in class!

How should I prepare for class?

Yes. To put it simply, Hot Yoga is a great workout. The poses in the class require strength and balance, which means as you attempt them you will be working virtually every major muscle group in the body. While there are periods of rest, the poses are done one after another, which makes them an excellent aerobic workout as well. You will be able to burn calories at a similar rate to riding an exercise bike. We are constantly being told by experienced athletes that yoga is an extremely effective workout. The classroom setting also allows you to set a level of intensity that is right for you.
